AM Express - All Levels
AM EXPRESS: This 1-hr class is designed for all levels and lends itself to individual attention. Each class begins with breath awareness, followed by attention to the details of correct alignment, balance, strength and flexibility. It's a great way to start your morning! ALL LEVELS: Suitable for yogis of every level. Learn how the practice of yoga affects our lives both on and off the mat. Through meditation, pranayama and asana, students will experience the power of yoga. Modifications to poses are offered thoughout the classes, allowing every student to benefit from each pose, at any level.
Basic
For the new student or the student who has been introduced to yoga but is still in need of more in-depth instruction. Focus: Slow steady pace of movement with basic standing postures, twists, gentle backbends, slow, steady pace, with an introduction to inversions.
Brand New Beginners
This series of 6 Wednesday morning classes is designed to introduce students to the practice of yoga. Each class will include breath awareness, yoga poses and final relaxation. Since this is a series, we will be able to build on the work from the previous week. August 5th - September 9th on Wednesdays 9:00 - 10:15 am Cost: $80 which includes a complimentary mat BONUS: At the completion of the series, you will receive a complimentary coupon for any one class at Midtown Yoga.

Gentle Vinyasa, Mantra and Mantra Meditation, pay what you can
After a recent trip to the Himalayan Institute, I decided that it is time for me to start teaching mantras and mantra meditations on a regular basis. Mantras, when practiced daily, awaken our dormant inner light. Just as the Bible tells us that "God is the Word and the word is God," so the ancient yogis discovered that sacred mantras awaken the light of God within the practitioner. I started practicing mantra 3 years ago and now feel prepared to share some of my experience with you. It is my hope, that as we practice these mantras together, we can illuminate ourselves and thus bring more light into this troubled world. Please join me for this adventure.

Hot Yin/Yang Yoga
Hot Yin-Yang Flow is unique blend of Yin Yoga, a quiet practice that encourages the body to open as each pose is held passively for several minutes, and Vinyasa Yoga, done in a room with auxillary heaters that raise the temperature to 90 - 95 degrees. Together, these two forms of yoga blend into a playful, fluid class that gracefully and dynamically links poses to the breath. With a strong focus on alignment and the breath, our practice becomes a movement meditation that deepens our awareness of our bodies, minds, and spirits. The class ranges from mild to dynamic and is open to students at all levels.

Hot Yoga - ALL Levels
Hot yoga is a regular asana class done in a room with auxillary heaters that raise the temperature to 90 - 95 degrees. The combination of activity and elevated temperature typically produces sweating, thereby lessening the body's toxins. Warmth promotes flexibility.
Hot Yoga - Level II and III
Inner Journey Yoga
This class will focus on Proper Breath, alignment, coordination of breath and movement, and "honoring the wisdom of the body" -- you will practice according to the limits of your individual flexibility and strength. Alignment follows awareness. Students will learn to focus on the physical and psychological reactions caused by various postures to develop their awareness of mind, body, emotion and spirit.

Meditation Class
Come and learn how to use your mind to quiet your mind. The aim and practice of Classical Yoga is to still the conscious mind, allowing the unconscious to rise to the surface and become conscious. As this happens we view the unconscious dispassionately cultivating what we call “witness consciousness.” Through meditation we can learn to observe own own minds thinking and come to realize that we are not our thoughts. To the contrary we are “that which perceives our mind thinking.” In this way we learn not be reactive. Meditation teaches us how to rest in the stillness of the Self, that aspect of ourselves that is clear, discerning, wise, steady and forever peaceful. No yoga or meditation experience necessary._
Moderate
For the student with some yoga experience and generally good health. Focus: Sun salutations, standing poses, longer holds, deeper backbends, inversions, seated forward folds and more complex breath work.

• As a teacher my intention is to create a space that is peaceful and supportive for people to explore their abilities, and to move beyond limited beliefs. To provide tools that empower students to take responsibility for their quality of life. • My approach is a combination of precision to alignment and intuition, strength and fluidity, and wisdom in action, all initiated by the breath. It is pure vinyasa flow. Vinyasa comes from the Sanskrit "naysa," which means "to place", and the prefix "vi," "in a special way" • The flow of a class unfolds through dynamic and creative sequencing designed to wake up all parts of the body. By moving into and out of poses in unique and sometimes unexpected ways we travel trough the layers to connect to the body, mind and spirit. • Classes/practices vary. Sometimes the focus is on strength and endurance, tapping into ones inherent power. At other times the focus will be geared towards balance and grace, while another might be low to the ground exploring roots. All classes have a conscious focus on the breath, and whether the practice is vigorous, or slow moving, the over all lasting energy will be one of balance an deep relaxation. • I also like to introduce the other aspects of yoga with in my asana classes. • Hopefully the student will be able to translate what happens on the matt (and sometimes off) into every day life. • I hope to challenge, nurture and inspire my students to connect with their true essence and embody their aliveness and creative potential.

Vinyasa, Pranayama, & Meditation - Level II / III
Yin/Restorative workshop
Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. Restorative yoga is designed to relax and renew your body and mind, allowing you to find inner balance and harmony. Restorative yoga is a therapeutic approach where the poses are adapted to accommodate any age, body type and physical condition. You will be completely supported by bolsters, blankets, blocks and pillows, creating a feeling of safety in which your body can totally relax. Basic breathing and simple meditation techniques will also be introduced to deepen your ability to be at peace and feel calm. This class is a great way to end your weekend and begin your week, refreshed and recharged. Restorative yoga is also good for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other acute and chronic conditions. No previous yoga experience is necessary. Align your body, mind and spirit in this soothing and gentle yoga class. Space is limited and students must preregister. $25 per class
